National Insurance increase
According to press reports, the government are planning to announce at least a 1% increase to National Insurance rates next week, supposedly to pay for social care.

It doesn't bother me hugely, as I earn a six figure salary, but the principle of paying yet more tax irks as I think we pay more than enough in this country. I'm thinking of the poor here, people like teachers and nurses, shop workers and call centre employees, who will be hard hit in their pay packets.

This government is becoming more and more left wing by the week. What an incompetent clown Boris has proven to be as PM, as those of us with working brains knew he would be all along.

Look on the bright side ... Said Benrahma earns a SEVEN figure salary so will be paying even more.

incorrect Sven, Bennys wages are based largely on performance like goals and assist bonuses and as COYI always tells us he never gets goals or assists so i expect to see him down a foodbank near Stratford very soon

Why is it you have to ay what salary you are on? That's the second time in two days you have mentioned how many figures your salary is.

Strange. I wish for you, that to one day in the very near future for you to realise that the only thing money gives you is options and certainly doesn't make you happier. Although it can help you enjoy life more.

If the govt need more of our money to pay for 'social care', they can take it out of the foreign aid budget.

GOOD

Social care is absolutely on its knees and is a national disgrace.

The situation as it is is tragic and needs to be addressed URGENTLY

People going through unimaginable suffering RIGHT NOW yet there is so much wealth in this country.

Fuck Afghan, fuck racism, fuck football or anything else

SOCIAL CARE IS IN CRISIS AND THIS IS AN EMERGENCY

Poor people? Teachers?

I'm a teacher. Whilst I'm not rolling around in a huge pile of coins like scrooge mcduck I'm hardly a pauper.

If you extrapolate an hourly contract rate of about 50 pounds per hour, you can claim that equates to a "six-figure salary".

It doesn't - 50 pounds an hour works out at roughly half of that as the original equation takes no account of holidays, sick leave, training and accommodation.

50 pounds an hour gets you an entry level position in any decent work area.

And I agree, they should look to use existing income streams before seeking more from the taxpayer.

They can start holding their hands out when the only things left to be cut in order to pay for this are MP's remunerations.

I bet you don't earn anywhere close to six figures though Mad Dog. Probably explains your anger and vitriol towards those of us that do!

Poor, lazy government and economics.

Want to spend more on social care (or anything else)?

Promote polices that expand the economy and increase the overall tax take, without raising tax rates.

To pay for the Brexit divorce bill. What a waste of money.

The Conservative 2019 general election manifesto from less than two years ago: "We promise not to raise the rates of income tax, National Insurance or VAT...we not only want to freeze taxes but to cut them too."

BRAZEN LIARS. But then, they have a "global pandemic" to fall back on as an excuse to raise taxes for millions of working people.

No I don't. However I gave up a very well paid job in IT consulting to go into teaching. Had I remained in that role I'd be on over 150k a year now.

I chose to change career. And even though I'm not getting paid a "6 figure salary", I'm very happy and actually enjoy my job. There's more to life than money.

I couldn't give a fuck what money other people are on.

I do give a fuck when people are idiots though. Like yourself.

"Can't we use all the money we're saving from not being in the EU?"

The amount approx. 8bn net we paid into the EU was 0.2% of GDP....0.2% FFS!!!. Peanuts. And for that our export businesses weren't losing money due to all the red tape they have to deal with since we left. An the Brexshiters complained of EU bureaucracy..How ironic.

Twats like you didn't get that.

COYI

No that's what Block sold for the year in caravans. Very bad turnover as no Eastern Europeans to sell to down to Brexit.Too expensive for Indians.
